Believe it or not but Gran Paradiso is making a comeback. The codename for Firefox 3.0 is not dead, even after Mozilla released the final version of the latest iteration of its open source browser. Over 20 million of Firefox 3.0 downloads later, a piece of the original 3.0 version project is moving to the center stage yet again. Gran Paradiso is once more available for download. Of course, the codename offers nothing more than a new development milestone, but this time of Firefox 3.0.1. Along with Gran Paradiso 3.0.1 pre, Mozilla is also serving testers and developers a taste of Firefox 3.1 Shiretoko and Firefox 2.0.0.15.

On June 27, 2008, exactly ten days following the general availability of Firefox 3.0, Mozilla will run a test day for Firefox 3.0.1. Firefox 3.0.1 is nothing more than the first stability and security update for version 3.0 and, in this context, a preview version was made available for testing purposes. Mozilla's Al Billings invited all those who wish to participate in the Firefox 3.0.1 test day to grab an early version of the browser via the company's FTP servers.

And speaking of security and stability updates, Firefox 2.0.0.15 is also cooking, and right on track to being released on July 2, 2008. "Candidate builds of Firefox 2.0.0.15 are now available for testing. You can get the builds here. If you have previously downloaded a beta version of Firefox 2.0.0.x or have manually set your copy to be using the 'beta' release channel for updates, you can update yourself to Firefox 2.0.0.15 by selecting 'Help > Check for Updates'," revealed Samuel Sidler, Quality Assurance Engineer at Mozilla.

At the same time, Mozilla also offered for download the latest development milestone of Firefox 3.1 codenamed Shiretoko on June 26, 2008. Shiretoko is considered a pre-Alpha build at this point in time, but the browser is expected to evolve fast since the final version of Firefox 3.0's successor is scooped for the end of the year. Users should take note that all the Firefox Builds available from Mozilla's FTP servers are meant for testing purposes only and are not designed for deployment in a production environment.

The final version of Firefox 3.0 is available for download here.
