It turns out that it's quite easy to make it look like Windows 7

If you are one of those users who just can't get enough of the Windows design, but you are also tired of the Windows XP look, you can now transform your Linux Mint installation into a Windows 7 look-alike.

There are some users who want to transform their operating systems so that it looks a lot like Windows. Some distributions are better at it than others, mainly because the desktop environment is more suited for this task.

In this case, Linux Mint 16 is the perfect candidate for a Windows 7 look-alike transformation and the Windows7 Pack (Cinnamon+ GTK3/2) theme works like a charm. You will have to move the files manually in the appropriate folders, but the themes should be easy to activate.

It's not enough to get the Windows7 Pack (Cinnamon+ GTK3/2) theme in place. You will also need to make the launcher look like the one on Windows, and you will need to install another piece of software called StarkMenu 1.3.0, which is a menu derived from Windows 7+Cinnamon and built specifically for this purpose. This package is currently maintained and it has received numerous patches.

You can download Windows7 Pack (Cinnamon+ GTK3/2) from gnome.org and StarkMenu 1.3.0 from cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com.
