Exactly one year has passed since Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War 1861-1865 was released and Matrix Games together with Western Civilization Software have decided to celebrate properly: they have released a new update and offer a 25% discount on new purchases of the game.

This update is a result of the feedback received by the developers from the fans and it is said to improve the historicity of the game and its gameplay. This v1.10.10 update improves many elements of the game, ranging from better balance between camps, population and replacements, to more realistic diplomatic percentages, two siege phases instead of one, improved scenario orders of battle and more realistic detailed battle frontage rules. Also, they improved the resolution of the quick battle screen, to bring a better balance to the effects forts and terrain have. Apart from all these, there are 250 historical biographies included in the game.

Lead Developer at Western Civilization Software, Eric Babe, said: "We're very proud of how far Forge of Freedom has come since its original release one year ago. Virtually every aspect of the game has been improved in response to player feedback. We hope everyone enjoys the new upgraded Forge of Freedom as much as we enjoyed working on it."

Also, as part of the Matrix Games Holiday Sale, Forge of Freedom is available from the Matrix Games Online Store at a 25% discount off the regular price through the entire holiday season. The version available for download is already updated to the latest v1.10.10.

As you know, this game is a tactical, strategy one, featuring the American Civil War and a customizable gameplay via lots of in-game options. It allows the players to research logistics, tactics or weaponry and fight very detailed battles, where they should consider unit morale, various unit types, weather, smoke, reinforcements etc.
