InnoGames has just released the Postmodern Era content expansion pack for their strategic online game Forge of Empires, introducing the 1970s and '80s to the game.

The game is a browser-based strategy title that challenges players to lead a city to prosperity, by progressing through the technology tree, expanding and raising impressive historical buildings and ultimately engaging in military campaigns and diplomatic initiatives to extend their sphere of influence.

Forge of Empires players have a lot to look forward to, from a brand-new storyline, more in tune with their individual game progress than ever before.

The Postmodern Era introduces a lot of new and exciting content to the game, with brand-new technologies to research, from industrial steel and space flight to numerous buildings that display both the advantages and pitfalls of the time period.

Toy factories will create some supplies and happiness at the same time, as opposed to junkyards, which will come with a lot more supplies, only at the cost of happiness.

The developer has release a diary video, where one of the game's designers explains the main features of the Postmodern Era, from high-society interactions to modern electronics.

The complexity of the Postmodern Era is translated into Forge of Empires through a wealth of specialized buildings like car factories and steel plants, providing tons of new supplies and goods, and through specialized public entertainment structures such as public pools, zoos and music festivals.

Two special buildings will give blueprint collectors something new to do and will create architectural landmarks, the famous space port in Houston, Cape Canaveral, and The Habitat, one of the most famous housing complexes in the entire world.

The content update will deliver a ton of goodies for those who lean more toward being passionate generals than city planners, in the form of an entirely new continent, consisting of 12 jungle-themed provinces that will prove very challenging to conquer.

Battles will be more ruthless than ever, with enemies arriving wave after wave, but players will also get some new, highly specialized troops to deploy and even the playing field, such as the commandos and machinegun teams.

Forge of Empires currently has over 15 million registered users and was awarded the Best Browser Game title at last year's German Computer Game Award convention. And there's a reason why strategic board games are called German-style games.

Developer InnoGames is known for their deceptively deep browser-based strategy titles, the company's portfolio also including the hits Tribal Wars, The West and Grepolis, offering a similar experience of a different flavor to strategy fans worldwide.
