Foresight 2.0.2 GNOME Edition has been launched today as announced by Ken VanDine and brings you the latest GNOME edition, 2.22.2. Foresight features a rolling release schedule that will keep your desktop up to date by using the latest packages.

The Linux kernel used by Foresight is now 2.6.25 with improved hardware compatibility. Wireless support has just got better, including Atheros and new sound card drivers. Foresight 2.0.2 also offers improved support for Intel's i915 and ATI R500 graphics cards.

The GNOME Display Manager (also known as GDM) features a brand new interface for logging in to your desktop. A list with all the users is presented and clicking on one of them will bring up the password dialog and the language selection moved to the bottom of the screen. NetworkManager has been updated for providing improved stability for those of you who have a wired connection.

On the multimedia side, Foresight features Banshee 1.0 Preview along with Banshee 0.13.2 (the stable release which is also the default music manager). Banshee 1.0 Preview can also play video files and sports improved Last.fm integration, better podcast support and a fresh interface.

If you are using Banshee, F-Spot or some other Mono applications, then you will be glad to know that the Mono stack has been rebuilt to perform faster and to reduce memory consumption.
