14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has released an update to the first Service Pack of Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 2010, highlighting the introduction of new functionality.
Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 SP1 Update 1 is now available for download from the Redmond company, free of charge, just as was the case for the service pack.
According to the software giant, UAG 2010 SP1 Update 1 brings to the table a number of improvements as well as fresh capabilities which will benefit Forefront customers running a few other technologies from Microsoft.
The refresh expands the functionality of Forefront UAG 2010 SP1 enabling new usage scenarios involving products such as Lync, Dynamics CRM 2011, and SharePoint 2010 with Office Web Apps.
Following the deployment of Update 1, Forefront UAG 2010 SP1 will feature support for publishing Lync web services, according to the Redmond company.
Similar improvements have also been made for additional technologies, not just the latest iteration of Microsoft’s unified communications solution.

According to Microsoft, Forefront UAG 2010 SP1 Update 1 also enables customers to leverage more browsers than ever before, expanding support, although the company did not offer additional information, at least not at the time of this article.
The first upgrade to Forefront UAG 2010 was delivered late in 2010, almost a year ago. Starting last December, Forefront UAG 2010 customers were able to download and deploy Service Pack 1 and to start leveraging enhancements for DirectAccess deployments and ADFS 2.0 support, in addition to other improvements.
