Customers looking to test drive the next iteration of Forefront Security for Exchange Server can now grab an updated release from the Microsoft Download Center. The Redmond company is currently offering testers the Forefront Security 2010 for Exchange Server Release Candidate for testing. Microsoft Forefront Security 2010 for Exchange Server is the company’s next version of Forefront Security for Exchange Server, a comprehensive security solution designed to offer protection against malware and spam via the multiple scanning engines included in the product, built by various Microsoft security partners.

“Its comprehensive messaging protection also prevents out-of-policy content from entering or leaving your network using content filtering. Through integration with Exchange Server and core Microsoft infrastructure technologies, Forefront Security 2010 for Exchange Server provides high performance, easily customized antivirus and antispam optimized for Exchange environments. It also integrates with Forefront Online Security for Exchange to provide the defense-in-depth benefits of hosted and on-premise filtering in a single solution,” Microsoft revealed.

Of course that customers will need to first have Exchange Server deployed in their IT environment before installing Forefront Security 2010 for Exchange Server. The security solution is set up to play nice with both Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and the upcoming Exchange Server 2010. The software giant noted that Forefront Security 2010 for Exchange Server Setup was designed to automatically detect the Exchange roles already on the server and to tailor FSE protection roles accordingly.

Forefront Security 2010 for Exchange Server requires a server with a 1 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB of RAM (2 GB recommended), and at least 2 GB of available disk space. “All minimum system memory and disk space requirements for Microsoft Exchange Server must be met before installing Forefront Security for Exchange Server. Too little available memory or disk space may impact the ability of Forefront Security for Exchange Server to scan large files. With each additional scan engine used, more memory is needed per scanning process,” Microsoft explained.
