Microsoft is providing customers running Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint with the first package of fixes since the product was launched in 2010.

Hotfix Rollup 1 for Microsoft’s Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint Server was released earlier this week, and is designed to resolve a number of problems that have been identified since the general availability of the RTM version of the security solution.

On January 17th Microsoft shipped Hotfix Rollup 1 for Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint (FPSP) to provide a series of product enhancements and new features.

“For a complete list of the new features and enhancements included in this rollup, along with directions for download, please see the Knowledge Base article: Description of Hotfix Rollup 1 for Forefront Protection for SharePoint,” revealed Rob McCarthy, Sr. Support Engineer.

As McCarthy noted, customers need to head over to KB 2496643 in order to get insight into the first Hotfix Rollup for Forefront Protection for SharePoint.

The Redmond company has fixed no less than nine issues and provided a list with the hotfixes included in the update package:

“Issues that are addressed in Hotfix Rollup 1 for Forefront Protection for SharePoint

- Forefront Protection for SharePoint Rollup 1 provides support for "enhanced deflate" zip files

- Forefront Protection for SharePoint Rollup 1 supports for the new Kaspersky 8 Scan Engine

- Manual scans now avoid scanning SharePoint System files

- The Deletion Text for "EncryptedCompressedFile" and "CorruptedCompressedFile" detections cannot be modified

- Messages cannot be scanned as FSCController is stuck in a continuous loop

- The W3WP.exe process crashes while scanning a document

- Forefront Protection for SharePoint Keyword and File Filter action is set to “Delete” by default

- A scan process in Forefront Protection for SharePoint may stop responding, and this generates a Dr. Watson crash that references Bucket ID 1211603866

- You receive the error “Failed to load SharePoint site list” when configuring the Scan Targets for an On Demand Scan,” the software giant revealed.

Customers are advised to plan ahead for the implementation of Hotfix Rollup 1 for Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint because a server restart might be required.
