Alan Mulally, CEO of American automaker Ford, has no intention to switch to Redmond-based tech giant Microsoft and take over the CEO position from Steve Ballmer.

That’s what Ford board member Edsel Ford II said in an interview with Bloomberg TV, adding that Mulally wants to stay with the American car manufacturer until late 2014.

“Alan is staying through the end of 2014 and that’s all I know,” he said during the interview. “Frankly, he has told us that his plan is to stay with Ford through the end of 2014.”

Alan Mulally, 68, is one of the front runners for Microsoft’s CEO position, with people close to the matter saying that the company’s board and outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer want him at the helm of the software giant.

Former Nokia boss Stephen Elop and internals Satya Nadella, Kevin Turner, and Tony Bates are also said to be in the race for the CEO seat.
