Alan Mulally, CEO of American automaker Ford, is currently said to be one of the leading candidates for the CEO position at Microsoft, the Redmond-based software giant whose boss will leave the company when a successor is found.

Mulally, on the other hand, has denied speculation on a possible switch to Microsoft with every single occasion, but a recent report revealed that the American was on the company’s shortlist for the CEO role.

According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, Mulally has denied rumors once again on Friday, with Ford also adding that there has been “no change from what we announced last November.” At that time, Mulally said that he wanted to stay with Ford until 2014.

Alan Mulally, Stephen Elop, Satya Nadella, Tony Bates, and Kevin Turner are said to be the top choices for the CEO position, but analysts expect Microsoft to name Ford’s boss the next CEO by next month.
