Even with $3 billion / 2.30 billion Euro profit, the company is less than pleased

After AMD's financial drop of 10%, we can't say we were completely caught off guard by Intel's performance during the third quarter of 2012, although the way it described the results was a bit strange.

Even though the company raked in $13.5 billion in revenues (10.3 billion Euro) and profits of $3 billion / 2.30 billion, it still considers the period one of the lesser money bringers.

The reason for this is the yearly decline of 19% percent.

"Our third-quarter results reflected a continuing tough economic environment," said Paul Otellini, Intel's CEO.

Tablets, phones and ultrabooks are described as the primary means of generating income now, even though Clover Trail has yet to gather a following and ultrabooks continue to be a disappointment.

Intel hopes to make slightly more money in the fourth quarter (October-December). Obviously, Windows 8 is viewed as a great opportunity, though we have to wonder how much the new OS will encourage sales if there is no sign of anything of the sort yet.
