Video game developer and publisher Ubisoft is announcing an entirely new video game called For Honor, which is designed to create an entirely new genre and will allow gamers to become some of the best fighters in the history of the world and engage a range of enemies in hand-to-hand combat with some complex weapon-based mechanics.

The official reveal trailer shows a deep experience, in which gamers will be able to become knights, samurai or Vikings as they explore a variety of battlefields.

Ubisoft states, "Carve a path of destruction through the battlefield in For Honor! Enter the chaos of a raging war as a bold Knight, brutal Viking, or mysterious Samurai, three of the greatest legendary warriors. For Honor is a fast-paced, competitive experience mixing skill, strategy, and team play with visceral melee combat."

The core of the title is called Art of Battle, a new control system that allows players to have full control of their heroes.

Each of the classes in For Honor will have unique skills and combat mechanics, and gamers will have to carefully position their weapons in order to gain an advantage over their opponents.

It seems that waves of AI-controlled enemies will move on the battlefield alongside two teams of human heroes and that victory will depend on taking out all those who oppose one of them.

For Honor will encourage team work

The team at Ubisoft working on the new combat-focused title says that it wants gamers to carefully choose their classes and then work together in order to take out foes.

It's unclear whether the title will have just one general brawl mode or if the company is planning to deliver a range of choices depending on the play styles of gamers.

The title will also include a variety of customization options for all characters, although it is unclear whether they are cosmetic or will influence gameplay.

For Honor will be launched on the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PC and the PlayStation 4 from Sony, but no information on the launch date has been mentioned.
