Sports Interactive, as the developer, and
SEGA, as the publisher, are announcing that Football Manager 2010 will be launched on October 30 on both the PC and the PlayStation Portable from Sony.
The simulation title, which puts the player in the shinny shoes of the manager of a football club to guide it as he or she sees fit, is coming hot on the heels of Football Manager 2009, which was one of the most successful simulations ever released.
Miles Jacobson, the studio director at
Sports Interactive, stated that “We have worked very hard with the Football Manager community to target not only the areas of the game that needed re-working but also what we could add to improve what’s already there. We’ve also conducted extensive usability studies which has led us to overhaul the whole presentation of the game, which we’re really excited about. There has been a lot of polish to existing areas of the game but it’s also driven us to introduce changes to answer some of the feedback. We’re extremely confident that having done that we will deliver the very best Football Manager to date in October.”
There are some significant changes in Football Manager 2010. A Tactics Creator will be introduced for the first time, allowing players to control their team either by using the already familiar sliders or by assigning clearly defined roles, like “deep lying playmaker.”
There are also new options for changing tactics on the fly in the middle of one match and managers have the ability to influence players from the touchline. Sports Interactive has also introduced a new Match Analysis tool which, after a game is played, allows managers to see the impact of their tactics and how it could be improved.
There are changes made to the user interface, with the side bar now replaced by menus at the top of the screen and players also have access to a powerful editor that permits them to create new leagues and make changes to those already implemented in
Football Manager 2010.
