First released in 1982 by Addictive Games, and lasting until the mid 1990s, the Football Manager
series was revived (in 2004) by Sports Interactive to replace the name of its Championship Manager series.
The original series (FM in 1982, FM 2 in 1988 and FM World Cup Edition in 1990) is credited as being the first ever computer game to use the concept of managing a football team. The creator of the series, Kevin Toms, was not involved in the last title, however. FM 3 (1990) was seen by many as an attempt to cash-in on the previous successes with a sub-standard game, and as a result, the series ended.
While the U.K. version name is Football Manager, the U.S. and Canadian ones are known as Worldwide Soccer Manager, derived from a football game series on the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast. This was no coincidence, as the new publisher of SIG's games is SEGA. There could be another reason though, with something of preventive flavor: to avoid confusion between American and European football.

9. Manager Of The Month - 5 points You will need to win a Manager Of The Month award to unlock this achievement.
10. Player In Team Of The Year - 5 points You will need to have one of your players selected in the Team Of The Year award.
11. Player In World Cup Best XI - 5 points You will need to have one of your players selected in the World Cup Best XI.
12. Player Of The Year Award - 5 points You will need to get one of your players to win a European Player Of The Year award.
13. Win 5 Separate Cup Comps - 5 points You will need to win 5 different cup competitions to unlock this achievement.
14. 5 Xbox Live Games - 6 points Play 5 cups or tournaments on Xbox Live to unlock this achievement.
15. 10 Matches Without Losing - 10 points Your team will need to play 10 competitive matches in a row without losing.
16. 20 Xbox Live Games - 10 points Play 20 cups or tournaments on Xbox Live to unlock this achievement.
17. 5 Clean Sheets In A Row - 10 points Your team will need to not concede a goal for 5 league games in a row.
18. 5 Players In Team Of The Week - 10 points You will need to have 5 players named in a team of the week.
19. Buy 30 Million Plus Player - 10 points Buy a player for 30 million pounds or more.
20. Sell 30 Million Plus Player - 10 points Sell a player for 30 million pounds or more to unlock this achievement.
21. Top Goalscorer In League - 10 points One of your players will need to be the top league goalscorer over an entire season.
22. Win an Xbox Live Cup - 10 points You will need to win an Xbox Live Cup to unlock this achievement.
23. World Player Of The Year - 10 points You will need to get one of your players to win the World Player Of The Year award.
24. 10 Match Winning Streak - 15 points Your team will need to win 10 competitive matches in a row to unlock this achievement.
25. 10 Seasons At One Club - 15 points You will need to stay at a club for 10 seasons to unlock this achievement.
26. Double Hattrick - 15 points You will need to inspire one of your players to score a double hattrick (6 or more goals).
27. Manager Of The Year - 15 points You will need to win a Manager Of The Year award to unlock this achievement.
28. Win 20 Cup Competitions - 15 points You will need to win 20 cup competitions to unlock this achievement.
29. Win 5 Separate League Comps - 15 points You will need to win 5 different league competitions to unlock this achievement.
30. Win an Xbox Live League - 15 points You will need to win an Xbox Live League to unlock this achievement.
31. Win Promotion - 15 points You will need to guide your team to promotion in a domestic league to unlock this achievement.
32. 10 Goal Of The Month Awards - 20 points Your team will need to collect 10 goal of the month awards.
33. 10 Manager Of The Month Awards - 20 points You will need to win Manager Of The Month 10 times to unlock this achievement.
34. 50 Xbox Live Games - 20 points Play 50 cups or tournaments on Xbox Live to unlock this achievement.
35. Goal Of The Season Award - 20 points One of your players will need to collect a goal of the season award.
36. Least Goals Conceded In League - 20 points Your team will need to concede the least goals in your league over an entire season.
37. Most Goals Scored In League - 20 points Your team will need to score the most goals in your league over an entire season.
38. Win Domestic Cup - 20 points You will need to win the top domestic cup in a nation to unlock this achievement.
39. 20 Seasons At One Club - 25 points You will need to stay at a club for 20 seasons to unlock this achievement.
40. Play 30 Seasons - 25 points Play Football Manager for 30 seasons.
41. Qualify for Int. Championship - 25 points You will need to ensure your team qualify for an international competition.
42. Win 5 Separate Top League Comps - 25 points You will need to win 5 different top league competitions to unlock this achievement.
43. Win Domestic Championship - 25 points You will need to win the top league in a nation to unlock this achievement.
44. 5 Manager Of The Year Awards - 35 points You will need to win Manager Of The Year 5 times to unlock this achievement.
45. Qualify For World Cup - 40 points You will need to ensure your team qualify for the World Cup to unlock this achievement.
46. Win International Championship - 40 points You will need to win an International Championship.
