The wedding of a couple from Norfolk in the UK was cut short by a brawl among wedding guests which was prompted by an argument over food.

According to The Sun, Karyssa and Ben Smethurst spent their reception in the emergency room.

28-year-old Karyssa of Gorleston, Norfolk was forced to drive her sister Krystel Coleman to a hospital.

They had the wedding reception at the Caldecott Hall hotel in Fritton, Norfolk. The brawl started with the wedding party waiting in line at the buffet and the best man pushing the other guests.

The bride's uncle, 53-year-old Curt Hughes punched the nest man, the groom's brother. Danny was hit by an enraged Hughes.

“Curt thought he was pushing in and swore at him. My brother told him there was no need to use that language. Danny got punched,” Ben Smethurst describes.

The bride’s father and her sister were then also violently attacked by Hughes, who used to work as a bouncer and a truck driver.

Sister Krystel was punched so badly, that she lost consciousness and needed medical attention, taking 20 minutes to come to.

“My mum went up to Curt to push him out into the car park. Then Curt’s wife got involved. They were shouting at my mum. I said, ‘Leave my mum alone’. Then he punched me. I was out cold for about 20 minutes.

“My dad also got hit. My mum ended up on the floor and was knocked out for a while. It was supposed to be my sister’s special day and it was ruined at the end,” she recalls.

The police have been called in and Hughes has been arrested on assault charges. He was detained and later freed after posting bail.

“A 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail,” a source in the Norfolk Police Department confirms.
