A survey carried out by the folks at ChangeWave Research has revealed that one quarter of the potential iPhone buyers are holding out for the upcoming 3G model. In the meanwhile, Apple has released firmware 1.1.2 for iPod nano owners, fixing some bugs occurring with the flash-based music player.

"Assuming Apple's next iPhone is 3G-compatible, it's good news for Apple," ChangeWave research head Paul Carton says. "That is the key issue faced by Apple." Is there any doubt Apple's new device will sport 3G networking capabilities?

3,600 folks (give or take) took part in the survey. 14 per cent of those stated they were waiting for a significant change of any type to the iPhone before they put their money where their mouth was, Computerworld is reporting. 11 per cent of the same bunch were specifically waiting for the 3G SKU to arrive. Luckily for them, they don't have to wait too long to have their wish granted.

"Our polls have found that as soon as Apple was willing to drop the price, there would be a huge leap in demand," said Carton. In this sense, he related to the August 2007 $200 price cut, mentioning it as a "significant movement in the percentage of people who said that they were waiting for the cost to come down," the same publication reveals.

In other news, Apple has recently rolled out an update for its third-generation iPod nano userbase, that was apparently experiencing issues with the flash-based music player. In typical Apple manner, the Cupertino based corporation falls short of giving specifics as to what the update 1.1.2 for third-generation iPod nanos does exactly.

The company only says firmware 1.1.2 for third-generation iPod nanos applies "bug fixes" to the flash-based music player, according to AppleInsider. As an owner of Apple's portable media player, you will need to access iTunes in order to update to the current firmware.
