Popular mobile broadcasting service FlyCast announced today that it released a new version of its FlyCast software solution for the Android-based Motorola DROID handset, one that offers users the possibility to “time-shift” radio broadcasts. According to the company, the new FlyCast for Droid gives users the possibility to pause, rewind and fast forward content from a wide range of radio stations directly from their mobile phones.

There are more than 2000 radio stations featured with the FlyCast for DROID, the company noted, adding that the software solution is expected to become generally available as soon as February 2010 arrives and that users will be able to download it for free. “Consumers are increasingly accessing and interacting with content in new ways and the Android platform is helping to facilitate these new behaviors,” said David Kennedy, FlyCast CEO. “FlyCast for Droid offers users the ability to control live broadcasts and interact with the media they choose, on their own terms.”

The FlyCast for DROID software solution comes towards users with a brand new interface, offering them a much more convenient selection of favorite channels, the company also noted. At the same time, the owners of a Motorola DROID will find it much easier to search for interesting content in FlyCast's music, sports, talk and on-demand video collection. Not to mention that the app comes with a FlyBack feature that enables users to pause or rewind shows even when they are being broadcasted.

Starting January 7, 2010, a free beta flavor of FlyCast for Droid will also become available for download via the Android Market. Users will enjoy access to over 2000 channels of content via the application, and the company says that its partners list includes FOX News, the Cromwell Radio Group, the Genesis Communication Network, KGOW Communications, .977 Music, 1.FM, 1Club, Sky.FM, RadioIO, LA Talk, Radio Paradise, Liberty News Radio, Blog Talk Radio, SmoothJazz.com, and other more.
