Researchers have long argued that, as the global food demand continues to increase, it might not be such a bad idea for people to diversify their diets, and quit feasting on meat, dairy, fruits and veggies alone.

For those who are toying with the idea of starting to eat insect larvae, here's one really cool invention that reportedly makes it possible for people to grow their lunch inside their kitchen.

This fly incubator, dubbed Farm 432, was created by Katarina Unger, a University of Vienna graduate student.

The designer says that Farm 432 fits neatly on most kitchen counters.

“It enables people to turn against the dysfunctional system of current meat production by growing their own protein source,” she adds, as cited by Tree Hugger.

Katarine Unger maintains that the larvae grown in this incubator taste nutty and smell a tad like cooked potatoes when tossed in the frying pan. Yummy, right?
