Mobile phone users in India are now able to purchase a new large smartphone running under Google’s Android operating system, namely the Fly F53s, which has been officially introduced in the country today.

The mobile phone will hit shelves with a 5.3-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) IPS touchscreen display, though with an affordable price tag attached.

Fly Mobiles, the maker of the new handset, has confirmed that F53s has been released at only Rs. 9,999 ($167 / €128) and that users can already find it available through various retail stores in the country, a recent article on AndroidOS notes.

The hardware specifications of the new device are in line with the price tag it sports, it seems, starting with the fact that it is powered only by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and not a more powerful one.

At the same time, the new mobile phone packs 1GB of RAM inside, as well as 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for storage expansion purposes.

The new Fly F53s has been unveiled with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with autofocus and support for HD video recording, as well as with a 2MP camera on the front, which should prove a great option for making video calls while on the go.

“Fly is innovating to give the consumers the best digital experience,” Rahul Goel, president, Fly Mobiles, commented on the launch.

“With more and more content consumption moving towards mobile devices, Fly is building offerings which will make this experience more pleasurable and comfortable.”

The specifications list of the new mobile device also includes Dual-SIM (GSM+WCDMA) capabilities, FM Radio, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options, and an 1850mAh battery, along with the usual set of sensors.

The new Fly F53s smartphone was launched with Google’s Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top right from the start.
