Fly Mobile might not be among the biggest names in the handset industry, but this doesn't stop the company from releasing new products. The latest two phones to come under the Fly brand are both packing dual SIM capabilities, hence allowing users to put two SIM cards at the same time in any of them.

Named Fly DS500 and Fly DS400, the new handsets were released in Russia – one of Fly's major markets, alongside the UK, India and Ukraine.

Fly DS500 comes in a slider form factor and has a nice overall look, although it's one that we've seen in quite many other handsets released so far. Its features include GSM and DCS connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 for the first SIM card and 900 / 1800 for the second one), a 2.2 inch TFT touchscreen display with 262K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Music player with equalizer, Video player, Bluetooth with A2DP, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording, email and Web capabilities, flashlight, 8MB of internal memory and support for microSD cards. The handset weighs 110 grams and, when not slid, it measures 110 × 50 × 15.5 millimeters. The battery that DS500 relies on is a 900 mAh one that can provide up to 3 hours of talk-time or up to 220 hours of stand-by time.

Fly DS400 is a simple candybar that brings fewer features, including a 2 inch TFT display with 176 x 220 pixels and 262K colors, dual-band GSM connectivity for both of its SIM cards (900 / 1800 MHz), a 1.3 Megapixel camera, Music player and so on. The DS400 measures 109.5 x 47.5 x 16.1 millimeters, weighs 96.5 grams and comes with an 800 mAh battery said to provide a talk-time between 3 and 7 hours or a stand-by time between 70 and 100 hours.

Russian mobile users can buy the Fly DS500 for a retail price of 6,500 RUB (182 Euros or $260), while the Fly DS400 can be acquired for less – 4,700 RUB (132 Euros or $188). No word yet on whether the new dual SIM Fly phones will reach other countries except Russia.

I am planning to buy a dual sim mobile (gsm + gsm). DS500 looks good. The only issue seems to be very low battery backup. Is there any update whether they have improved on this shortcoming ?!?!?!?
