Flux is a new web design application from The Escapers. The newly updated application (V. 1.2.2) includes a slew of code corrections, some tweaks to the User Interface and, best of all, support for the Komodo Editor.

Aimed at those looking to design XHTML/CSS websites, Flux lets you, as a Mac user, create the whole site within the WYSIWYG editor, type in XHTML, or both. The supplied templates will help you get started. If you're in the business, you're ready to start from scratch, without having to touch or even see XHTML/CSS, as Flux offers all the web design necessary tools you need. “You can do Web 2.0, AJAX, and most other buzzword-compliant things,” the developers note. You can access your iPhoto albums from within the application, or use Spotlight to find an image to drag it right onto your website.

“As The Escapers' flagship product, Flux has rapidly grown from a totally Mac-savvy tool for the amateur web designer, to a professional workhorse for web fanatics,” say The Escapers. “The web is an incredibly fast moving medium, so why do so many web apps stick around in the past, with table-based design and 'creativity only if it looks like one of our templates?'”

Flux is a Universal Binary, designed entirely for the Mac and OS X operating system. Requirements call for a G5, or Intel Core Duo at least, and 768MB or more. More is always better.

As noted above, Flux 1.2.2 adds tons of bug fixes, a refined UI and, now, support for the Komodo Editor.

“Flux is different because we have adapted to make Flux thrive on the 'next big thing',” the company adds, “so not only do we support PHP, Ruby, and other seasoned toolkits, we're also on the leading edge for support for new technologies such as Yuma and Adobe's Spry.”

You can give Flux a glance right here (demo version). The full version of the web design tool costs US$69.00. A user manual is also available for download.

NOTE: Not to be mistaken for Flux, the ScreenSaver Module for Mac OS X, which is indexed under the same name.
