Extendmac has released a new version of its FTP client built exclusively for Mac OS X Leopard, Flow. Version 1.1 adds Multi-touch support, meaning that notebook users can now use swipe-gestures to navigate around Flow's UI.

According to Extendmac, Flow has been built exclusively for Mac OS X Leopard. The FPT client streamlines both transferring and editing files by leveraging your high-speed connection, the developer claims, using this sleek UI (user interface), and "integrating the latest and greatest of OS X technology." The company is so proud of how its FTP client looks that it had this to say in relation to the user interface: "We have an obsession with pixels. As a side effect, every pixel in Flow is simply lickable. Go ahead, lick away. Just be sure to clean the screen afterwards."

Among Flow's strong points, the company mentions support for FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, .Mac, and Local Connections concurrently, to allow multiple transfers and editing sessions to take place at the same time; the ability to edit in the sleek internal editor (with tabs, syntax coloring, live previewing, and code sense), or with another editor of your choice; URL Copying - URLs to your remote files can be copied instantly, even automatically after uploading; and the ability to QuickLook almost any file (images, movies, music, PDFs, text documents and even web-pages). Instant Droplet, another note-worthy feature of Flow, allows you to drop a file on its icon, and watch as your file is quickly uploaded in Finder-like copy-window.

New stuff added in Flow 1.1 includes (highlights):

Local Browsing in the Sidebar - You can now browse your local disk from within the sidebar in Flow, eliminating the need to interface with the Finder for uploads and downloads.

Custom Public Keys for SFTP - Connect to an SFTP server without specifying a password, and Flow will allow you to select a public key to connect with.

Public iDisk Support - Just leave the password blank when connecting to a user"s iDisk!

You can now QuickLook any file, as long as it's within the 6 MB limit.

WebDAV and MobileMe iDisk now use digest authentication (much more secure than Basic).

New editor font: Bitstream Vera Sans Mono.

Multi-touch Support - If you have a Mac with a multi-touch trackpad, you can now use swipe-gestures (3 fingers) to navigate around in Flow.

Flow 1.1 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, and is a Universal Binary. You may download a trial version of the app to see how it works, or upgrade your existing copy using the link provided below.
