Recent news from Florida says that the manatees inhabiting this state's waters are now dying in record numbers, all because of a deadly algae bloom that is affecting their natural habitats.

Wildlife researchers explain that, since the beginning of 2013 up until present day, the algae bloom has spread from Sarasota all the way to the middle of Lee County, meaning that this part of the Floridian coast is now contaminated with significant amounts of toxins.

Because of this, at least ten manatees are found dead on a daily basis. All in all, a total of 149 animals have passed away within said time frame, sources report.

On the other hand, only about a dozen were found just in time to receive appropriate treatment and be released back into the wild once they started feeling better.
