A sinkhole opening up in Dunedin, near St. Petersburg, Florida has about ruined two homes. The hole emerged in a backyard but it is growing, authorities say.

USA Today writes that it is now 90 feet (27 meters) wide and more than 50 feet (15 meters) deep. The Florida sinkhole was just 35 feet (10 meters) large and 30 feet (9 meters) deep yesterday.

Chief Jeff Parks of the Dunedin Fire Department informed that the growth was reported by nightfall.

The family who owns the property where the hole has formed have already lost their porch, a bedroom, their boat and a neighbor's pool.

Both their home and the neighbors’ are built on unstable ground and they will probably be demolished, Chief Jeff Parks of the Dunedin Fire Department says.

One of the homes has already been listed for a demolition, and the second house has incurred damage.
