A home in Florida is close to being swallowed by a giant sinkhole, two days after structural works to prevent such disasters started.

The hole in the ground is about 35 feet (10 meters) in diameter and 30 feet (9 meters) deep. Homeowner Michael Dupre describes hearing when part of the house crashed into the hole.

According to The Huffington Post, he heard the sound of a “sledgehammer pounding on a wall” before part of the terrain near his Dunedin home collapsed. A pool was swallowed, as was part of a patio and a boat at a home next to his.

The Dunedin resident contacted his insurance provider after the Seffner sinkhole disaster, but they only started working on consolidating the ground now. They had started pouring grout into the foundation when the ground collapsed.
