Chris Sevier filed a 50-page motion demanding the court to let him wed his computer

A Florida man has taken his obsession with computers a little bit too far when he asked the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to let him marry his Apple computer infested with adult content.

After Utah officials denied him the right to wed his MacBook “machine spouse,” Chris Sevier filed a 50-page motion with the court on Friday, arguing that the love he has for his laptop is no different than the love between gay couples. So, he asked the court to intervene in an ongoing federal case over Utah’s same-gender marriage ban on behalf of the allegedly discriminated minority groups.

“[They] discriminated against me when they reject my request to marry my computer,” Sevier wrote in his plea.

“I approached the Utah clerk to have a marriage license issued for me and my machine-spouse. The clerk denied my request for a marriage license in the same manner and for the exact same reasons—my object of affection was outside the scope of the narrow definition,” he added.

Sevier, a former attorney and music producer, claims that his potential marriage to a machine possesses less of a risk than the same-gender relationships, because in case of a divorce, things would be settled a lot easier.

However, his attempt to convince the court to allow him to marry his computer has failed, as the judge dismissed his case, saying it was exaggerated and had “no place” in the ongoing lawsuit.

“Chris Sevier has moved to intervene, apparently asserting he wishes to marry his computer. Perhaps the motion is satirical. Or perhaps it is only removed from reality. Either way, the motion has no place in this lawsuit,” judge Robert Hinkle wrote in his ruling, according to Gawker.

This is not the first time the 37-year-old man is involved in strange legal battles, as last year, he also tried to sue Apple for failing to add filters on web browsers to block out adult content. He then claimed that he became addicted to this type of content because of the lack of a “safe mode,” and his obsession eventually destroyed his marriage. He also said his failed marriage caused him great emotional distress to the point of hospitalization.

Moreover, in June last year, he was charged with stalking country music star John Rich, and had previously tried to sue TV network A&E for firing Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson because he made some homophobic comments in an interview.
