Social web browsing is a common practice nowadays. Due to the increasing popularity of the social networking concept,

various extensions for the common used web browsers have been developed to help users connect and share information easier; even new "social" web browsers have been created.

Providing a unique browsing experience, Flock is a social web browser that shares the same source code with Mozilla Firefox and, as a consequence, the majority of Firefox extensions will work on Flock. The latest Mozilla security updates are also included in Flock when they are available.

The Flock 2.0 Beta version has many improvements regarding performance, security and user interface. The new Gecko 1.9 engine determines lower values for the time necessary to render web pages. The better management of the memory will allow certain applications to run on higher speeds. The security modifications include: validation of site security in the address bar, visible alerts indicating malware detection, improvements of password manager which result in less memory consumption and more.

Taking into account that the Flock web browser has received important awards, like Webby for Social Networking and support continuous improvements, it could have a bright evolution in the future both from the developers and user experience point of view.
