The retailer mistakenly replaces the Windows Phone 8.1 handset in some cases

Last week, XOLO’s first Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphone, none other than the XOLO Win Q900S, a phone that has already created a lot of hype in the country, started selling in India via Flipkart.

The device was initially listed on Snapdeal several weeks back but has been listed as out of stock at the retailer ever since, and those who wanted to purchase it were left without this option.

However, now that Flipkart also added the Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone to its offering, users can head to this retailer’s website to order it.

The one thing they will need to make sure of when receiving the phone, however, is the fact that it indeed runs under Microsoft’s mobile OS.

This is so due to the fact that some of those who have already ordered the phone have received the Android-based variant instead.

Ordering a Windows Phone 8.1 device and receiving an Android one instead is certainly an annoying thing, but it seems that Flipkart is resolving the issue for all those who purchased the XOLO Win Q900S and found themselves in this situation.

If you are one of the users who received the Android-based smartphone instead of the Windows Phone 8.1-based one, go to Flipkart's website and inform them on the error, so that you will get a free return of the device, as WMPoweruser notes.

Next, the Windows Phone 8.1-based version of the smartphone will be shipped to you, though it might take a few days before that happens.

At the moment, XOLO Win Q900S is listed as out of stock at Flipkart too, but we suspect that new devices will arrive sooner rather than later, especially since there appears to be high demand for it.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the mobile phone arrives on shelves with a 4.7-inch touchscreen display that can deliver an HD resolution, as well as with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8212 processor.

Moreover, the smartphone packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the handset features an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video recording, paired with a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Moreover, it arrives on shelves with an 1800mAh battery, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS receiver, as well as with the usual set of sensors. On top of that, it will provide users with all of the features included in the Windows Phone 8.1 platform iteration.
