The tablet will be a budget-minded one like the previously launched 7-incher

Everybody these days is making tablets, including retail giants. Mammoths like Tesco, Argos and Flipkart have rolled out their own branded products, which sell for an affordable price and so have the capacity to draw in a lot of customers in, albeit bringing average specs to the table.

Not so long ago, Indian behemoth Flipkart rolled out its first tablet product coming under the DigiFlip banner. The company previously used the moniker to advertise for its earphone, portable speakers and laptop accessories and now it extended it to include tablets.

The Digiflip Pro XT712 Android tablet arrives with a 7-inch IPS HD display (1280 x 800 pixel resolution) and 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor working in concert with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

If the current offering is taking advantage of a low cost chip from the MediaTek garden, Digiflip will soon be offering something for the more demanding budget customers (if they can be called that).

According to the folks of FoneArena, India’s biggest retail giant has plans of launching another tablet device which will apparently draw life from an Intel chip. The company already teased an image of the upcoming device and judging by what we can see in the picture, the slate probably features an 8-inch screen.

Like most tablets on the Indian market today, it will come equipped with voice calling capabilities, so customers will be able to use it to place phone calls.

The device will be made available in four different colors, including red, grey, pearl white and blue. For the time being, the tablet is not available for pick up, as Flipkart is expected to introduce the device on August 27.

The new Digiflip tablet will most likely take advantage of the Bay Trail platform and hopefully will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, unlike the MediaTek product launched a month ago.

Oddly enough, the MediaTek platform has been optimized to support Android 4.4 KitKat, but Flipkart has chosen to launch the tablet with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box – a pretty outdated operating system.

Flipkart will most likely bundle the new Intel tab with some extra goodies like eBooks and such. For the time being, we are not told how much the tablet will cost, but considering the MediaTek one ships for around $166 / €122, the newcomer’s price should revolve around the same threshold.

In a few days we’ll have the complete information to share with you.
