As we reported earlier this month, Indian retail giant Flipkart is gearing up to roll its own branded tablet lineup to be marketed under the Digiflip moniker.

And just a few weeks after this information was revealed, the first Android tablet from the Digiflip family makes its way into the country. It doesn't offer much in terms of specs, but at least it sells for a very affordable price tag, that of Rs. 9,999 / $166 / €122.

The Digiflip Pro XT712 is a slate arriving with a 7-inch IPS HD display which offers 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. The tablet receives power from a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor fitted with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Additional specifications include microSD card slot, two cameras (5MP on the back, 2MP in front), 3G connectivity and dual-SIM support (so you can place phone calls).

A major drawback is that the tablet only runs Android 4.2 out of the box and Flipkart hasn't mentioned anything about offering an update to Android 4.4 KitKat.

However, the company is hoping to woe customers in by offering Rs. 2,000 / $33 / €24 worth of eBooks for free and savings worth Rs. 5,000 / $83 / €61 for those shopping using the pre-installed Flipkart app on the device.
