Flip4Mac has updated its WMV Player to version 2.2.1.11 Beta. Flip4Mac WMV is a collection of QuickTime components that allow you to play, import and export Windows Media files and can be used with most of your favorite QuickTime applications including QuickTime Player, iMovie 6 and Final Cut Pro.

The Flip4Mac WMV Player allows you to play Windows Media directly in your QuickTime Player. This eliminates the need for an additional player and provides the great playback experience and control that you've come to rely on with QuickTime Player.

The new version sports improvements as well as fixes. Those include improved WMV playback in Safari; improved Safari and Camino compatibility; improved output results when using DV .mov source in Studio and Silverlight; fixed miscellaneous crashes; fixed security issues reported by Drew Yao of Apple Product Security; fixed Flip4Mac Studio (Parameter out of range) issue; fixed transition rendering issue when using Flip4Mac 2.2 with Final Cut Express.

A trial version of Flip4Mac WMV Player is available for download right here on our web site. In trial mode you can export ½ the duration of your source file up to 30 seconds, while a watermark will be placed on any file that you import until you upgrade to Player Pro. Some feature limitations are also imposed. However, the most important ones were left in place. Those include: Playback (Player version), Import (Player Pro version), Export with built-in encoding profiles (Studio version), Export with custom 1-pass, SD profiles (Studio Pro version), Export with custom 2-pass, HD profiles (Studio Pro HD version).

Note: If you have the free WMV Player from Microsoft, you already have a trial version of all the other Flip4Mac WMV products. When you purchase a product, you will receive a serial number, which will unlock the features you purchase.

System requirements for Flip4Mac's WMV player are an Intel or PPC Mac running OS X 10.3.9, 10.4, 10.5.1 or later, and QuickTime 7.0 or later (7.1.3 recommended).
