Flattr, the micropayments startup, has now started supporting SoundCloud and now enables users to add a Flattr button to the SoundCloud player for any of their tracks. This should give emerging artists using SoundCloud as a way of getting heard, a chance to earn some money along the way.

"We’ve recently allowed you to connect to Twitter, now it’s time for SoundCloud. It’s a bit different this time! With this you’ll be able to get Flattr buttons in all of your SoundCloud players," Flattr announced.

"If you’ve uploaded your amazing music to SoundCloud, and now want them to magically become Flattr things, without having to add every single one of them in turn, it’s now possible!," it added.

"This will not only publish your SoundCloud material on Flattr but it’ll also add Flattr buttons to your musics SoundCloud players no matter where it’s embedded," it explained.

Adding the Flattr button to SoundCloud is relatively straightforward, you have to go to the Settings section of your Flattr account, visit the Connections tab and enable support for the audio hosting and sharing service.

After that, all you have to do is choose the tracks you want to add the button to. All that's left is for your fans to don't forget to 'tip' while listening to your tunes.

Flattr hasn't exactly taken the world by storm, but it has gotten some popularity and the innovative model is clicking with at least part of the audience and the artists.

But Flattr is not alone to offer a way of supporting your favorite SoundCloud artist. About a month ago SoundRain was launched, enabling artists to add a different payments option to their songs, powered by Mino.

Of course, more options can only be a good thing for SoundCLoud users, but it seems like the site itself is missing out on a great opportunity to earn some money while also enabling its users to get some extra cash as well.
