FlatOut Coming to PC This Summer

- Arcade racing and car wrecking will be available for the PC owners, too

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

Silverstar's Empire Interactive has announced that FlatOut is being prepared for a PC release this summer and this is the story that has just made my day, since the lack
of really good arcade racing games for the personal computers was really annoying for me. FlatOut Ultimate Carnage will be released worldwide this June, so you can start the party right away!

Bugbear Entertainment, the developers of FlatOut are working for the PC version and they promise to bring us a game that will visually rival the Xbox 360 version and this is a good thing to know. Also, if you really want to understand why I am so excited about this newly announced title, you should know that FlatOut was named the best Xbox racing game of 2006 and the franchise has sold over 2 million copies across the globe.

"Research suggests that arcade racers are becoming ever more popular on the PC, with the Xbox 360 controller providing the perfect way to enjoy the genre," said Ian Higgins, CEO of Empire Interactive. "Ultimate Carnage is an entirely new prospect for PC, and we're excited to be bringing FlatOut's unique gameplay experience to PC gamers everywhere."

Hopefully, the game will not be ruined by the request of a game controller and we will still be able to play it without one. Anyway, Ultimate Carnage promises to bring a "deathproof" experience both in the single player races as well as the fun multiplayer modes, where the wheel-to-wheel car wrecking action is what you should expect to get.

Also, the game uses a very well implemented ragdoll physics system so expect to see your driver thrown out of the car if you hit a wall at high speed. The soundtracks of the entire series had some really great titles, too, with bands like 32 Leaves, Art of Dying, Dead Poetic or Supermercado enhancing your racing experience even further, so we should expect the same from the PC version. And everything will happen pretty soon – this summer, in June.
