Virtual Programming has released the Mac version of FlatOut 2. The sandbox-racing title, already available for PC, is best known for its aggressive gameplay modes, in which players must drive recklessly and destroy everything in sight.

In the FlatOut series, players get rewarded for being destructive. However, you can also participate in mini-games and online battles with your friends. Some of the mini-games emphasize the ragdoll physics, according to early reviews of FlatOut 2.

"FlatOut 2 takes racing to the limit with numerous enhancements and additions including brand-new much requested online multi-player modes," says, Empire Interactive, the publisher of FlatOut 2. "With twice as many vehicles, additional race environments and twice the number of tracks. The mayhem continues off the track with 12 all-new Ragdoll mini-games including basketball, baseball and royal flush cards, a Ragdoll Championship and full online support."

Touted as "the sequel to the best selling destruction racer," FlatOut 2 includes a bigger variety of race environments (Big City, L.A. Storm Drains, Rocky Mountain Forest, Corn Fields and Desert), twice as many tracks with alternate track routes featured for the first time, an enhanced Championship Mode with multiple cups across increasing difficultly levels, and twice as many vehicles, plus additional car types (Muscle cars, Sports cars, Pickup Trucks and Compacts). A new Garage feature allows players to own multiple vehicles, while unlockable bonuses (including additional cars, Championship Cups and Destruction Arenas) have been thrown in as well. Best of all, the game features multiplayer support for Destruction Derby Arenas and Ragdoll Mini Games.

At the time FlatOut 2 was confirmed for the Mac platform, system requirements weren't available. With the game out, interested gamers should know that OS X 10.3.9 or higher is required, as is an Intel processor. Additionally, you will need to pack at least 512 MB RAM, a GeForce 7300, Radeon X1600 or Intel GMA, or X3100 128MB, 4GB of Hard Disk space and a broadband connection for Internet play & Product Registration.

FlatOut 2 for Mac costs $39.99 and can be acquired here.
