YouTube, DailyMotion, Metacafe, GodTube and, starting today, FlashoverTV. A new video community service has been released joining one of the most popular sides of the Internet industry: the online video sharing services, which attract millions of users every day. FlashoverTV is actually an online video community especially addressed to firefighters and fire departments, but it can be accessed for free, so go over there and watch some vids. Just like any other video sharing service, let's say YouTube, FlashoverTV let's visitors rate videos, comment them, embed, email or add as favorite most of the clips published on its page.

FlashoverTV is powered by FireRescue1.com, one of the top web resources for firefighters, which obviously means that its clips will be soon integrated into the parent company's website.

"At FireRescue1, we recognize that online video will play a major role in enhancing the next generation of public safety Web site portals and increasing their importance as mission critical resources, both for training purposes and as an effective tool for communicating product information", said Alex Ford, CEO of FireRescue1.

"FlashoverTV combines the latest online video technology with our well-established firefighting resources and expertise. This has allowed us to make FlashoverTV an interactive environment for firefighters and departments from around the world to view and upload video that will both entertain and help them stay informed, train and better protect their communities."

At this time, the online video community is pretty unpopular and this thing is obvious, as it has only a day or two since it went online. For example, the most watched clip on FlashoverTV recorded only 10 views, in comparison to millions of users attracted by the giant YouTube. However, we can't really compare Google's video service and FlashoverTV, because they target different segments of users with different types of content.
