Apparently Microsoft isn't the only one to take forever in patching vulnerabilities; Macromedia proves to have learnt this delaying business very well.

It took them almost four months to patch a serious security flaw that was reported in June by eEye Digital Security, which affects certain versions of Flash Player 7 and earlier. According
to the security company, this vulnerability was considered as highly critical.

Macromedia recommends users to upgrade to the latest available edition of Flash Player (8.0.22.0, downloadable from here), which contains a fix for the vulnerability.

For users who have hardware configuration that doesn't match the minimum Flash Player requirements, the company said that they can still use Flash Player 7 and a patch to fix the vulnerability should be available soon.
The flaw has been rated as "critical" by Macromedia and "high" by eEye Digital Security, which discovered the problem earlier this year.

Although it took them so long to finally publish a patch for a security breach that was pointed out in June, Macromedia thanked eEye Digital Security and Sec Consult for reporting these vulnerabilities and for working with them to help protect their customers' security.
