Adobe rolls out much-needed memory patch affecting web browsing

Adobe has released an updated version of the Flash Player today resolving some issues on OS X Mountain Lion, and possibly older versions of Apple’s Mac OS, too.

Released today for all platforms, Adobe Flash Player 11.4.402.265 includes fixes from previous releases, such as a patche for a widespread problem where videos from some websites could not be played on Mozilla’s Firefox web browser or Google’s Chrome.

Opera seemingly wasn’t even taken into account in that release, though initial tests showed an improvement in this web browser’s behavior too. At least on the Mac.

In version 11.4.402.265, it’s quite noticeable that Flash no longer eats as much memory as before. Mac applications that use the plugin now run smoother and no longer crash in certain circumstances.

Whatever else is under the hood, the update is more than welcome. This release is a must-download for Mountain Lion users.
