On Monday, software giant Adobe announced officially the launch of Adobe AIR 2.5 for a wide range of devices, including televisions, mobile phones, tablets, or computers, and also unveiled some info on its plans regarding the Flash Player 10.1 solution, which was released previously this year on devices powered by Google's Android operating system.

The runtime was already certified on almost a dozen Android devices, and is expected to become available on at least a dozen more in the coming weeks.

At the same time, the software company announced officially that the solution is set to become available on more mobile operating systems, and that it shouldn't be too long before that happens.

“Flash Player 10.1 is available on Android and Google TV today, with BlackBerry platform, HP webOS 2.0, future versions of Windows Phone, LiMo, MeeGo, and Symbian OS also expected to support Flash Player 10.1,” Adobe announced in a press release.

At the same time, the company noted that the solution has already become very popular on handsets running under Google's mobile operating system.

“Already one of the top free apps on Android Market, with more than 50,000 users giving it a 4.5-out-of-5 star rating, Flash Player 10.1 brings rich Flash based content to mobile devices inside the browser,” the company noted.

Moreover, Adobe unveiled that Flash Player 10.1 was already downloaded more than 2 million times from the Android Market since it was made available.

On top of that, we should note that the runtime is being distributed via device makers, which pre-load new Android products with Adobe Flash Player 10.1 right from the start.

Wireless carriers also distribute the solution, via pre-installs and operating system upgrades, the company concluded.
