Adobe has already announced plans to deliver its Flash Player to mobile phones, and it seems to be on track to have it available on a final flavor sometime in the first half of the next year. The company says on its website that Flash 10.1 will be here during that window, and that will apply at least to handsets running under Palm's webOS operating system or under Google's Android 2.0 platform.

As many of you might already know, the maker revealed that it is set to deliver a beta flavor of Flash 10.1 for mobile phones before the end of the ongoing year. While there are no further references to this version available on Adobe's website, the one thing that is certain is that the company will provide support for handsets next year.

The Flash technology is currently used at a large scale when it comes to content around the Internet. According to a recent post on leakdroid, around 85 percent of the top 100 websites use flash, and around 75 percent of all videos around the web are based on Flash. Since the number of mobile phone users that access the Internet from a handset is increasing dramatically, the future availability of Flash 10.1 for various smartphone platforms can only be seen as great news.

Palm's webOS and Google's Android platforms are not the only OSes that will enjoy Flash. Adobe has already announced that the technology will come to all smartphone clients out there, including BlackBerry, Symbian, and Windows Mobile, except for the iPhone. The recently unveiled agreement between Research In Motion and Adobe is further proof that other smartphone users will enjoy the upcoming feature.

However, it remains to be seen when exactly the final version of Flash 10.1 arrives on the currently available mobile operating systems. The first half of the next year time frame is a long shot, yet we can always hope for a more specific availability date to emerge into the wild. Stay tuned to learn additional details on this.
