Over the weekend, OpenSight Software, developers of FlashFXP, released one update for their product and one hotfix. As worrying as a hotfix may sound, there is nothing to worry in the case of FlashFXP, reviewed here, since it simply solves compatibility problems with Windows XP SP1 and 2.

Users transitioning to version 4.1.8 (available for $10 through Softpedia) of the client would not be able to run it unless they were using Windows XP with service pack 3 installed, or a newer operating system.

The current version of the FTP, FTPS and SFTP client adds search function to site manager component, updates OpenSSl to 1.0.0f and improves SSH/SFTP error reporting as well as command exporting.

As for the batch of fixes available in this release, these eliminate problems that caused incomplete downloads because of FlashFXP’s incorrect handling of the SSL shutdown or incompatibility with MVS FTP servers. You can check the full list of changes available on this page.
