The fully fledged Windows Store might not be available along with the first public development milestone of Windows 8, but the Windows Store client can create some problems for early adopters. Microsoft has confirmed an issue in which Windows 8 Developer Preview testers can experience crashes of the Windows Store client in scenarios in which they attempt running it.

The Redmond company hasn’t offered an official explanation as to why the crashes occur, but it detailed the problem.

“When the user starts the Windows Store client in Windows Developer Preview, codenamed “Windows 8," the Store crashes during startup and displays a black screen. This occurs occasionally during acquisition of an application. The Store has to be restarted,” the software giant stated.

Early adopters testing Windows 8 Build 8102 Milestone 3 (M3) can already grab a fix for this particular glitch.

All they need to do is make their way to Windows Update and grab KB 2617028, an update designed to resolve the issue mentioned above as well as two other problems.

I already told Softpedia readers about how the KB 2617028 can be used in order to fix a Windows Explorer crash / restart loop in Windows 8 Developer Preview.

This update is also designed to take care of an additional problem, on top of also resolving Windows Store client crashes.

“If you delete the notification database file or the file becomes corrupted, applications do not receive new notifications. When this issue occurs, you have to uninstall and reinstall the application to correct the state of the application database,” Microsoft revealed.

“This issue can occur because the corrupted or missing notification database file does not have an entry allocated to store the application’s notifications.”
