Developer Overkill has confirmed that random crashes are currently affecting its recently-launched Payday 2 shooter on PC but noted that most of them can be fixed by just disabling the Steam Overlay function.

Payday 2 was released a few hours ago on the PC via Steam worldwide, but it seems that there is a key issue causing random crashes during gameplay.

While Overkill has yet to track down the aspect that's been causing the freezes and exits from the game, the developer noted on the official forums that the crashes can be fixed by simply eliminating the Steam Overlay system.

"Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, click on 'Properties' and uncheck 'Enable Steam Community In-Game' in the 'General' tab," the studio told worried fans.

As of yet, however, the studio is still investigating the random crashes.
