Customers that already upgraded to Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and are also using System Center Essentials for their management needs can experience issues with updating their copies of the operating system. Microsoft confirmed the problems officially, and has already tackled the glitch. Because of the presence of System Center Essentials, it’s bound that IT professionals managing the organizations of small and medium size will be among those looking for a fix provided they came across error 0x80070570.

“When you locally publish updates through System Center Essentials and then attempt to download and install those updates to a Windows 7 SP1-based computer, those updates may fail with error code 0x80070570,” the software giant said.

Of course, they also need to recognize the details mentioned above in order to see whether KB 2607070 actually applies to them.

As I already mentioned, the Redmond company managed to tackle the problem. In this regard, customers can download two refreshes that come with the promise that any issues they might be experiencing in relation to error code 0x80070570 will go away.

“Microsoft has released an update to resolve issues where System Center Essentials locally downloaded updates may fail when installing to Windows 7 SP1-based computers,” the software giant said.

There are two flavors of the KB 2607070 fix available for download from the Microsoft Help and Support website. Customers can get either Windows Update Agent, 32-bit versions or Windows Update Agent, 64-bit versions, depending on the version of the operating system they’re actually running.

Microsoft did not specify which versions of System Center Essentials are impacted by the problems. However, it appears that only attempts to install updates to Windows 7 SP1 via System Center Essentials will fail, with no other Windows releases being confirmed as affected at the time of this article.
