This past Monday, divers working with the North Carolina's Department of Cultural Resources managed to recover five more of Pirate Blackbeard's cannons from the waters off North Carolina's coat.

The cannons were found among the wreckage of the notorious pirate's ship, dubbed Queen Anne's Revenge. Despite the fact that they have spent the past three centuries under water, they are very well preserved.

According to WITN, four of the cannons tip the scale at about 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms) each. The fifth one, however, weighs an impressive 3,000 pounds (1,360 kilograms).

Historians have reasons to believe that this large cannon was manufactured in Sweden. If this is indeed the case, then the rumors that the Pirate Blackbeard went on a shopping spree across several different countries when arming his ship might actually be true.

The North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources expects that, by the year 2014, it will have managed to recover whatever bits and pieces of Queen Anne's Revenge are still lying on the ocean's floor.
