Wordrpess has recently launched its latest beta version, 2.8 Beta 2, of the popular blogging platform, which comes with the usual set of new features tweaks and enhancements aimed at making the lives of bloggers using the platform easier. Blogger Clint Maher has made a list of some of the changes that he believes makes version 2.8 better than ever and we will give you five of them.

Uploading Wordpress themes from the Admin Panel. This feature allows users to upload themes from the admin panel without having to use other means of getting the files on the server, like FTP clients. This was made possible for plugins since 2.7 and now you can do it for themes too. There is also the possibility to search through the themes you have installed using filters like width, colors and number of columns.

Widget Section Tweaked. Sidebars are visible again in the widget section. This makes it easier if you have more sidebars as you will be able to get a better idea of where everything is going to be.

Editing all plugins with the editor. Now you can edit all the plugin files from within the editor, an option that was not possible for plugins with more than one file. This way you can make small changes if for example the plugins aren't working very well with your current theme.

Editing comments from the edit post section. Any comments that have been made to a post will now be visible in the edit post section also. All the usual comment management options are available, like delete, spam and reply.

Tag management. Tags can now be managed from the Posts section called Post Tags with the options of creating a new tag, a tag slug and a description for the tag.

Here are some of the highlights of Wordpress 2.8 from the developers themselves:  - New drag-and-drop widgets admin interface and new widgets API  - Syntax highlighting and function lookup built into plugin and theme editors  - Browse the theme directory and install themes from the admin  - Allow the dashboard widgets to be arranged in up to four columns  - Allow configuring the number of items to show on management pages with an option in Screen Options  - Support timezones and automatic daylight savings time adjustment  - Support IIS 7.0 URL Rewrite Module  - Faster loading of admin pages via script compression and concatenation
