
According to Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin, just after 9 a.m local time, a man attacked members of the Turkish State Council, the main administrative court in Ankara, wounding at least five people.
In a live interview with NTV TV station, Sahin added that out of the five persons who were seriously wounded, two are judges. Their condition at the present moment is extremely critical, added a court official, who did not reveal his identity, in a phone interview with the above mentioned television station.
Quoting hospital officials, NTV stated that Judge Mustafa Yucel Ozbilgin has a head gunshot wound and Judge Mustafa Birden has a stomach wound, but his vital signs are stable.
It is not yet known who the man who started the attack is and what his motives for shooting the two judges are. Nevertheless, it has been rumored that he did not have any accomplices. The deputy Prime Minister added that police has already arrested one suspect who was allegedly trying to escape the building after the incident.
It is a known fact that Kurds, Islamists and even communists are among the ones who have attacked Turkish officials in the past, as well.
