Red Hat released last evening, November 29th, a new kernel update for its Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 Desktop and Server operating systems, fixing several more security vulnerabilities discovered in the Linux kernel packages by various hackers.

These are the kernel vulnerabilities found recently in the Linux kernel packages: CVE-2011-1162, CVE-2011-1898, CVE-2011-2203, CVE-2011-2494, CVE-2011-3363, and CVE-2011-4110.

As usual, you can click on each one to see how it affects your Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating system, or go here for an in-depth description. The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the kernel-2.6.18-274.12.1.el5 package(s).

This security update is available right now from Red Hat Network, and detailed information about how to apply it can be found here.

Don't forget to reboot your computer after the upgrade!
