Barack Obama knows the secret to staying in shape: healthy snacks and regular workouts

America’s favorite man, Barack Obama, is renowned for his enviable shape. Until not long ago, he was considered what the media deemed a “regular man” in terms of staying in shape, despite the fact that he had been repeatedly photographed working out. Nevertheless, it’s a combination between that and a healthy diet that keeps Obama in such fit, enviable shape.

Although not few have been those who have told Obama that he “needs to put more meat on his bones,” this is one president that is as dedicated to his gym routine as he is committed to making a change. Obama works out at the gym six days in a row in 90-minute sessions, as a means to fight off stress and get some time to reflect on what’s next for him in his daily life.

Marty Nesbitt, one of Obama’s closest friends from Chicago, said not long ago that he does not see this as a “routine” that he must stick to, going to the gym with pleasure because he knows no better way to unwind. “He does it every day like clockwork. He doesn’t think of it as something he has to do – it’s his time for himself, a chance for him to reflect. It’s his break. He feels better and more revved up after he gets in his workout.” Nesbitt said, as quoted by FitSugar.

Among the exercises included in a typical 90-minute Obama session, there is weight-lifting and a cardio rotation “including a stationary bike, elliptical, and treadmill,” according to the aforementioned source. A protein bar and an organic iced tea make for Obama’s favorite post-workout snack, accompanied, of course, by plenty of water. Obama has been working out like this ever since he was 22, so it might just be that all those who consider him too thin are not seeing the big picture.

Another of Obama’s secrets to staying in shape is healthy snacks. Not once has the US president declined treats he was being offered on visits in his campaign tour on account of their calorie content. Most of the times, he just takes the usual obligatory taste not to offend the one offering it, since his snacks consist of seasonal fruits and nuts. Pistachio is an old-time favorite with him, known for lowering cholesterol. Fiji water, plenty of it, is again one of Obama’s favorites, as it also is with countless celebrities in Hollywood.
