A Townsville angler was out catch-and-release fishing in North Queensland, Australia, over the weekend when he caught a Jungle Perch and discovered that a frog was still alive inside the throat of the fish.

When fisherman Angus James was removing the hook to release the fish back into the water, he was stunned to discover that a green tree frog was sitting inside its mouth, waiting for a chance to leap to freedom.

“I was pulling the lure out of its mouth and there was this little frog staring up at me. I was shocked. I thought it might have been green grass at first, then it blinked,” the professional field angler said.

The small amphibian, which looked like it had a smug smile on its face, leaped straight and passed James' head onto the nearest tree, but not before the fisherman managed to snap a photo of it.

“I always carry a camera so I took the pic and then he jumped out,” James added.

Nobody can tell for sure for how long the frog had been staying inside the jungle perch's mouth before being freed, but it certainly doesn't look frightened in the picture. According to Daily Mail, the green tree frogs are known to make loud noises when they are in danger, but this one seemed rather calm when it was discovered.

Maybe it was waiting for someone to come to its rescue.
