The fishermen go on to say that, when cutting the shark open, they also came across the remains of a human leg

Towards the end of last week, a group of men living in the Philippines chanced to catch a tiger shark while fishing in local waters. For some reason, they decided to cut it open and have a look inside its belly.

The fishermen claim that, much to their surprise, they found a human head inside the beast's stomach. What's more, they say that the head wasn't alone. On the contrary, it was being kept company by a human leg.

The men have no idea when it was that the shark feasted on these human body parts. What they are sure of is that, when they found the remains, both the head and the leg were partially digested.

Possibly the wackiest fishing expedition ever

As mentioned, the fishermen claim to have caught the tiger shark late last week. They say that, although they did not actually weighed it, they estimate that the animal tipped the scale at about 1,300 pounds (some 590 kilograms).

When they pulled the shark aboard their boat and got busy chopping it into bits and pieces, they had no idea what they were going to find inside it. Needless to say, they were taken aback when they came across the human remains.

'It was so disgusting. We couldn't bear the awful smell. I began fishing when I was 20 years old and I have never found human remains inside a shark before,” a 48-year-old fisherman named Bodoy Gorgod said in a statement, as cited by Daily Mail.

By the looks of it, the fishermen are quite convinced that the human head and the leg they found inside the tiger shark came from victims of a ferry accident that occurred not far from the place where they caught the shark, earlier this year.

Thus, it is said that the remains came from one or both of the two people who were lost at sea when a ferry dubbed the MV Maharlika sank not far from the island of Leyte in the Philippines back in September.

OK, so where are the human remains?

As surprising as this may sound, it appears that the fishermen threw the human head and the leg back in the water shortly after having discovered them. They even got rid of the tiger shark's body and only kept the animal's jaw and its fins.

They say that they disposed of the human body parts simply because they thought that they would bring them bad luck. What's more, it appears that they won't even get to keep the fins or the jaw they took from the alleged man-eating tiger shark.

Thus, the woman who is married to one of the fishermen insisted that they threw away whatever body parts they took from the animal. “I don’t want the sight of that jaw, knowing that the shark had eaten a human being. Who knows the victim’s spirit might visit us,” the woman explained.

Seeing how they have no human head or leg to confirm this story, it's no wonder that folks are having trouble believing the fishermen's story. Simply put, it's possible that they made the whole thing up.
